NATURAL BRIDGE CAVERNS

Natural Bridge Caverns

Natural Bridge Caverns is one of the largest commercial caverns in Texas. Its name comes from the sixty-foot limestone slab bridge that spans the amphitheater-like setting of the cavern's entrance. The bridge was left suspended in the cavern when a sinkhole collapsed below it. You can visit this amazing destination at 26495 Natural Bridge Caverns Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266. A small group of college students decided to explore the caves in the 1960s. The caves are located under a 60-foot limestone bridge, and the students suspected that there were hidden passages underneath the bridge. They found a cool draft coming from a crawlway, and the air currents suggest that there are other rooms that can be explored.
